Fractional COO & Operations Consulting

You built the business. Now it runs you.

You know exactly how this business should run. We turn that into systems your team can follow, so it runs that way whether you're in the room or not.

Built to launch. Built to scale. Built to last.
The Real Problem

Revenue's up. Headcount's up. Somehow you're working more, not less.

What you built outgrew the way it runs. Now the decisions, the knowledge, and the fixes all route through you. That isn't a growth problem. It's a systems problem, and systems are fixable.

01

None of it is on paper

The how, the why, the workarounds, the exceptions. You know all of it cold. Nobody ever had time to write it down, so none of it can be handed off.

02

Everything runs through you

Every decision and every fix routes back to you, because you're the only one who knows how it should be done. That isn't your team falling short. They were never handed a standard to follow.

03

The business pauses when you do

A week off and things slow down or stall. You built this for freedom, and right now it's the thing you can't leave.

What It's Worth

The systems that free up your time make the business worth selling.

Owner-dependent businesses sell at a discount, if they sell at all. Build it to run without you, and you've built something you can actually hand off, or cash out of, on your terms.

Services

Three ways in.

Start with a diagnosis or build the whole thing. The right one depends on how deep the problem runs, and how much you want off your plate.

Tier 01

Survey

A one-time operations assessment

Start with a Survey. Four weeks, fixed fee, agreed before we start. We map how your business actually runs, find exactly where it's stuck on you, and hand you a prioritized plan you can act on with us or without us. If you keep going, half the Survey fee credits back, spread evenly across your first three months. Either way, the map is yours.

Best for: Owners who want clarity before they commit.
Tier 02

Fractional COO

Ongoing operations partner

We run the operations side alongside you, month over month. Documenting systems, tightening processes, and building the structure your team needs to operate without you. Senior operations leadership, without the full-time salary. This is steps two through five of the Groundworks Method.

Best for: Businesses ready to build, not just diagnose.
Tier 03

Launch Partner

Ground-floor, equity-based

For the right venture, we come in at the foundation and build the operational backbone from day one. Real skin in the game, fully aligned on the outcome. The Groundworks Method, run before anything has a chance to break.

Best for: Founders who want an operator, not a consultant.
The Groundworks Method

From stuck on you to standing on its own.

The steps never change. What we find inside them always does. Where you start depends on where you're stuck.

01

Survey

Map how your business actually runs, and find exactly where it's stuck on you.

02

Excavate

Get the critical know-how out of your head and documented, so it stops living in one place.

03

Foundation

Turn it into repeatable systems. Fix what's slow before automating a thing.

04

Frame

Build the team and the handoffs so decisions stop routing through you.

05

Build

The business runs without you in the room. Now you can scale it, or sell it.

Approach

Your business isn't a template. Neither is the fix.

Three things that shape the work.

Built for you, not off a shelf.

Most consultants bring one system and bend the business to fit it. We take what's already proven, a Toyota factory floor, an airline cockpit, a restaurant kitchen on a Saturday night, and reshape it around how you actually run.

Fix it before you automate it.

Automation is labor that never sleeps. Point it at a good process and it's the best hire you'll ever make. Point it at a broken one and you've staffed a hundred people to do the job wrong, around the clock.

The hard part is people, not process.

A new process is a gym membership. Signing up was never the hard part. You don't move anyone just by being right, so we learn how the work really gets done and bring the team with us.

Who's Behind It

Tim Vickers

Founder & Principal, Operex Groundworks

We figure out why businesses break, then build the infrastructure that clears the bottleneck and lets the team run it. I learned that over years across a variety of domains: consumer and commercial lending, sales, operations management, IT, systems engineering, and software development.

I'm a Six Sigma practitioner, experienced in project management, and I work at the pioneering edge of AI, using it to solve and automate the everyday problems every business faces, and to make that accessible to businesses of all shapes and sizes. That range of experience is where the pattern recognition comes from: I catch what's breaking early and build the solutions that help a business thrive and scale.
